Club History

The AVRS was formed on Wednesday 25th March 1981. The AVRS was a reformation of the original club, 'The Aylesbury and District Radio Society'. Club members of 'The Aylesbury And District Radio Society' included G3BPR (John 'Dev' Devlin), G6NB (D.N. Biltcliffe) and G3BNS.

A newspaper cutting dated sometime in 1946 confirms the existence of the The Aylesbury and District Radio Society.

Sometime later on this club was disbanded. After a period of a few years it was decided to form a new Radio Club.

Early in 1983 G3MEH (Roger) and G8BQH (Mike) both expressed interest in setting up a Radio Club.
On 15th March 1981 the Aylesbury Vale Repeater Group proposed to start an Amateur Radio Club for the Aylesbury area.

The first meeting was held at the Queens Head pub in Temple Square, Aylesbury at 8.15pm on Wednesday 25th March 1981.

Here are a couple of pictures of the first club venue in 1981
